You get one automatically, it never changes, and it is never shown to clients.
You are one person, so you get one account.
Plenty of companies give you a fresh account for every product they launch, then leave you working out which email you used where. We went the other way. The first time you create an account with us you are issued one Family ID, and anything WorkOfficially or our partners build afterwards belongs to that same ID.
Issued once
Generated when your account is created and never reissued. Change your name, your handle, your email or the country you live in, and the Family ID stays exactly as it was.
Private by default
It is not on your public profile and no client ever sees it. An account number strangers can read is an invitation to impersonate you, so this one stays yours.
Not a key to anything
It identifies an account; it authorises nothing. It is not a password, a payment reference or a recovery code — which is exactly why it is safe to quote to support.
Checked, not just random
The last character is worked out from the others, so a mistyped ID is rejected instead of quietly matching somebody else's account.
No zero. No one. No guessing.
An account number is read down a phone line, copied off a screenshot and typed by someone in a hurry. So the characters that people mix up are simply not in it.

The random part
Ten characters, drawn at random. It never contains 0, 1, I, L, O or U — the ones that get confused with each other.
Then two letters, then one check character
The two letters say which of our products issued the ID. For WorkOfficially they are W and O. The final character is calculated from everything before it.
So yes, an ID can contain the letter O — and it never contains the digit zero. If you are looking at a round character, it is always the letter. The same goes for the digit one, which never appears at all, so a tall stroke is a letter too. That is the whole reason the alphabet is cut down: nobody should have to ask which one they are looking at.

We would rather name them here than describe a product before it exists.
Four things, none of them abstract.
1. Support finds you in one step
Quote the ID and we have the right account immediately — no spelling out an email address, no "which one did you sign up with", no wrong person.
2. Your history stays yours
Change your display name, your handle or your country and the account underneath is provably the same one. Reputation is not something you rebuild because a detail changed.
3. One place that has to be secured
One account means one password and one two-factor setup to get right, instead of several sets of credentials with most of them forgotten.
4. Ready before the next thing ships
You do not have to do anything now for a product that does not exist yet. When one opens, your ID is already the way in.
What a shared account number does not mean.
One ID across products is convenient for you, and it would be easy for us to quietly turn it into something else. So, plainly:
Having an ID is not joining anything
The ID is the account, not a subscription to whatever we launch next. Nothing is added to your account, and nothing is charged, unless you choose it.
It is not shown to clients
Nobody browsing the site, and no client you work with, ever sees your Family ID. Your public profile shows what you chose to publish; this is not part of it.

What is a WorkOfficially Family ID?
It is the single account number for a person across everything WorkOfficially and our partners build. It looks like WO-FMLY-3FF7MBQZ8RWO6. One person has exactly one, however many of our products they end up using.
Is my Family ID public?
No. It is not shown on your public profile and it is not visible to clients or to anyone browsing the site. You see it on your own profile page, and our support team can look it up when you quote it.
Does an ID contain the letter O, or a zero?
The letter, never the digit. The random part of the ID leaves out 0, 1, I, L, O and U because those get confused with each other. The two letters before the final character say which product issued the ID, and for WorkOfficially those letters are W and O — so a round character in your ID is always the letter O, and a zero never appears anywhere.
Can my Family ID change?
No. It is issued once and never reissued, even if you change your name, your handle, your email or your country. That is the point of it: everything else about an account can change, and this cannot.
Is it the same as my username or my profile link?
No. Your handle is the public part of your profile and you can change it. The Family ID is private, permanent, and identifies the account itself — for support, for linking products, and for our own records.
Can someone use my Family ID to get into my account?
No. It identifies an account; it does not authorise anything. It is not a password, not a payment reference and not a recovery code. Support still verifies who you are before changing anything, so quoting it is safe.

Sign in and open Edit profile — it is at the top of the page with a copy button. It is also on your Your data and privacy page.
